Wholistic Counseling Services, Inc (WCSI) (“Wholistic” meaning “whole person” – origin from which the corporate name was formed), is a spiritual based, 501(c)(3) non-profit, outpatient, counseling organization. It was founded by Dr. Marilyn Hamilton on March 14, 1998, and embarked upon a new beginning providing services on March 21, 1998. Also in 1998, WCSI received its Certificate of Incorporation, became a non-profit organization, and filed a DBA in both Harris and Fort Bend Counties. Effective March 1999, WCSI received its Certificate of Licensure (facility license) from Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, and effective January 11, 2000, was registered as a Faith-Based program for Exemption to Licensure as a chemical dependency treatment facility. Wholistic Counseling Services, Inc was approved as a Clinical Training Institute in 2001, and in 2002, became a provider for the Texas Rehabilitation Commission.
Dr. Hamilton perceived a need for a positive image in the community. Her initial focus was to improve the quality of life for juveniles in detention centers, thus, receiving a two-year contract with the Fort Bend Juvenile Probation Department. Presently, she is contracted with the Fort Bend Adult Probation Department. Her emphasis is on helping the “whole person” – youth and adults – whether the need is personal, social, behavioral, educational, or spiritual. Moreover, WCSI employs a unique style of service delivery by integrating counseling and education for a more effective and rewarding program.

- Helping clients become aware of and deal with their feelings, emotions, and stressors
- Helping clients manage their anger and control their violent behavior
- Helping clients abstain from using and abusing drugs
- Helping clients develop effective, productive, and socially acceptable problem solving behaviors
- Helping clients refrain from unprotected sexual conduct
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of Wholistic Counseling Services, Inc (WCSI) is “to prevent broken homes and loss of lives” by providing a continuum of services for the “whole person” through the provision of counseling, programs, and education. These services facilitate prevention, intervention, and recovery and are utilized when applicable. WCSI furthers this mission by committing to improve the quality of life for juvenile delinquents, substance abusers, batterers, ex-offenders, inmates, the homeless, and HIV+ clients via behavior modification, drug and AID prevention, counseling, educational programs, and social services. WCSI is also committed to work in fostering a healthy, safe and drug/HIV-free milieu for our youth, families, and community at-large.

Based upon Dr. Hamilton’s years of work experience as an educator, entrepreneur, counselor, service provider, mentor, and advisor; resultant of her professional knowledge and personal growth; and by virtue of her special interest working with clients, students and the public; this excerpt from author Gerhard Gschwandtner, sums up Wholistic Counseling Services, Inc treatment philosophy very succinctly: “Clients don’t care how much you know…until they know how much you care.”
